Kelsey Scares The Hawk is a 2014 graduate of the University of Minnesota Morris. During her time here, she was heavily involved in the American Indian Science and Engineering Society (AISES), the Circle of Nations Indigenous Association (CNIA) and CNIA Pow wow Committee.  Kelsey also participated in research programs such as the NorthStar STEM Alliance, Science and Technology Enhancement Program (STEP), and Research Experience for Undergraduates (REU) during her time at Morris.

Kelsey returned to her hometown of Shakopee, MN after graduation and began working at the Shakopee Mdewakanton Sioux Community in August 2014. Ten years and various job roles later, she now works in the SMSC Finance dept overseeing Donations, Grants, and outreach. She lives in Milca, MN on a 13-acre hobby farm with her husband, dad, 2 dogs, 3 guinea pigs, 2 goats and over 50 chickens, ducks and geese. In her free time, she likes to care for her raised gardens, crochet, bead and watch Netflix.
