Koopman is recently retired, following a long career, which capitalized on his chemistry major, at Waters Corporation, a global manufacturer of analytical instrumentation for use in laboratories located outside of Boston, Massachusetts. At Morris Koopman participated in track and field and served as co-captain of the team. In 2009 he received the UMM Distinguished Alumni Award and is a member of the U of M Presidents Club. He has been a longtime supporter of the Chemistry Undergraduate Research Fund (CURF), Community of Scholars, and the Science and Math Alumni and Students Networking event held during Homecoming each year. He currently serves as president of the UMMAA Board of Directors, of which he has been a member for the past six years. During leisure time, Koopman enjoys reading, softball, photography, and motorcycling.
